A few things I am not:
-pro-ana
-a speedy runner
-shy about public speaking
-opposed to cocktails before noon
-sorry for including all of my interests in one confused tumblelog

This blog contains my personal musings, adventures and inspirations.

Shenanigans, beautiful finds and Instagrammed shots from daily life, you can follow here. Shoes, cocktails, feathers and food; fashion, running, bikes and art. Sometimes politics. Sometimes athletics. Sometimes all of the above.

My full account (running only, no stilettos) of my athletic ambitions since running the 2011 Boston Marathon for charity is at KateRuns, though I share snippets here as often as possible.

It Might As Well Be Spring

This has been a week of truly lovely (if confounding) weather. Even this morning’s snow was friendly, large flakes melting on impact.

On Wednesday night, Jack and I headed out for 4.5 mild miles; Thursday over lunch, I snuck in 2.5 just because I couldn’t bear not getting out into that sunshine.

My ankle, though rock solid 90% of this training cycle, has been making protestations the past two weeks. It doesn’t feel injured (not unsteady or tweaky in the previously-torn spots or crunchy, thank goodness), but it does feel sore at the connection points of the muscle I damaged in September, on the outside of my foot and in the calf.

I’m chalking this up to weakness, rather than injury. I’m still running with orthotics, in the same shoes, with the same gait – unless things start feeling acute in the Injury Zone, I’m confident that it’s just the high mileage talking, and that more strenghthening (yes, I’ve slacked off on the ankle excercises) will help.

That said, all of this is leaving me a bit wary of tomorrow’s run, since last week’s was not my best; hopefully, with mild temperatures in the forecast, I’ll warm up and loosen up enough to ditch some of this ankle anxiety.

Fingers crossed. Happy Friday!

P.S. Don’t forget – two RoadID gift certificates are up for grabs this week, to those who have donated and those who have not (yet). Enter here!

TL,DR: 4.5 Wednesday, 2.5 Thursday, spring weather in February and one cranky ankle.
